Terms of use

The ordinary terms on which this guide is published.

The ordinary terms on which UTC Guide is published. Nothing here is a surprise, but publishing a site without stating them would be sloppy.

What this site is

UTC Guide (utc.mathsschools.co.uk) is an independently produced, informational reference site. Using it means accepting the terms on this page. If you do not accept them, please stop using the site.

It is information, not advice

Everything here is general information about University Technical Colleges and choosing between them. It is not professional, legal, financial or educational advice, and it is not a substitute for talking to the institutions themselves. Decisions about a child's education are consequential and specific to that child — do not make one on the strength of a page on this site without checking the position with the school or authority concerned. We are not liable for decisions taken on the basis of what you read here.

Accuracy, and its limits

We compile from public sources and cite them, and we flag what we could not verify rather than papering over it — see our methodology. Even so, this site is offered "as is": we make no warranty that every figure is current, complete or free of error. Published data changes, official sources restate their own figures, and pages here are a snapshot of what the sources said when we compiled them. Where a date is given for a data snapshot, treat it as the point at which the information was true.

Independence

This guide is independent and unofficial. It is not affiliated with, funded by or endorsed by any University Technical College, any sponsoring university or employer partner, the Baker Dearing Educational Trust, the Department for Education or Ofsted. Names, logos and trade marks belonging to those organisations remain theirs, and are used here only to identify and discuss them — a use we consider fair for a reference work of this kind.

Advertising

This site carries automated display advertising through Google AdSense, which is what funds it. Advertisers have no influence over editorial content, no organisation can pay to be included, excluded or described favourably, and an ad appearing beside an entry says nothing about the subject of that entry. What an advertiser offers is between you and that advertiser; we do not vet advertisers and are not party to any transaction you make with one. Our privacy policy explains the cookies involved.

The original text, analysis, layout and code of this site are ours. You are welcome to quote a reasonable extract with attribution and a link — that is what citation is for — but wholesale copying or republication of the site or its compiled datasets is not permitted without asking first. Material reproduced from official sources, including Ofsted reports and Department for Education data, is Crown copyright and generally available under the Open Government Licence v3.0; its licence, not ours, governs its reuse.

Other people's sites

We link to external sites as citations. We do not control them, are not responsible for their content, and a link is not an endorsement.

Corrections and removals

If something on this site about you or your organisation is wrong, out of date, or should not be here, email hello@mathsschools.co.uk and tell us what and why. We would much rather fix an error than defend one, and we act on well-founded corrections promptly.

Availability

We do not guarantee the site will be available uninterrupted, and we may change, move or withdraw any page at any time.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.
