A technical school most families have never heard of

University Technical Colleges teach 14 (or sometimes 11 or 13) to 19-year-olds a full academic curriculum alongside a genuine technical specialism — engineering, health sciences, digital, construction — co-designed with a university and a roster of named employers. Around 130 have opened since 2010; roughly a third have since closed, merged, or converted to something else.

This guide catalogues every UTC still open: who backs it, what it actually teaches, how Ofsted rates it, and what happened to the ones that didn't make it. Every page lists its sources and flags what couldn't be confirmed — here's how it was built.
